What does the "Mainstream"** Digital future for political campaigns? We don't know.
Some operative questions:
- Reddit, other similar-style forums... great for spreading political information. But none of it is candidate based or mainstream. More like the salaciousness and gossip and innuendo that will, quite truly, "go viral."
- What, place memes?
- What place, paid organizers?
- Now that FB has downgraded politics within its algorithms, how much of an effect does Facebook advertising have, really?
- Again, what place paid organizers in Community Forums and neighborhood groups? Hard to do. Presidentials will likely set the model.
- How to stand out and get your audience to process arguments, if those arguments are mainstream and not otherwise emotionally fraught?
- Options are limited.
** Mainstream meaning not YouTube content for junkies or radicals. Not a lot of persuasion happening on 2A YT. Though plenty of awareness raising. But that's well-trod ground.
